This is № 511 of Pilentum's model railroad videos. Sometimes model rail layouts are designed according to historical patterns. Usually the focus is on long-forgotten railway lines or on old locomotive sheds (“abandoned premises”), which are exactly modelled on the basis of old postcards and books. The members of the model railroading club “Modelspoorclub Het Spoor” from Sint-Niklaas in Belgium have taken up this challenge and constructed a high-precision replica of the Belgian railway line 127 and Braives railway station.

Model builders Yannick De Vynck and Dirk Colman presented a historically accurate replica of the Belgian railway line 12 at Heide station in the Belgian municipality of Kalmthout in the province of Antwerp. The model railway layout in HO scale was designed to represent the beginning of the 20th century, when steam locomotives and steam trains still were in service.

Adrian’s model train layout is only 2.50 m x 0.50 m, but still offers plenty of space for shunting and running model trains. The scenery is set on the Iberian Peninsula. Most of the time, locomotives and trains of the Spanish National Railway Network RENFE (“Red Nacional de los Ferrocarriles Españoles”) are in use.

If model railroad layouts look like a work of art, then these miniature worlds definitely need to be presented on Pilentum Television. However, have you ever heard of the Maeklong Railway Market in Thailand or the Ga Long Bien Railway Station in Vietnam? In this video, we discover an Asian model train diorama that features scratch building, weathering and lovely details. Overloaded trucks, funny transport vehicles, loving details and the rickety streetcar perfectly complete the Asian diorama.

At the great model railway exhibition named On TraXS 2022 in the Netherlands, Samuel de Zutter and Valentijn van der Haegen presented their detailed On30 model train diorama that takes the viewer to Cuba. You have to look twice or three times closely to discover the many small details on the model railway layout. Of course, it should not go unmentioned that Samuel and Valentijn are true experts in scratch building, i.e. they do not use prefabricated parts or kits. They are experts of building scale models from scratch, i.e. from raw materials, rather than building it from a commercial kit, kitbashing or buying it pre-assembled. Therefore, the small their O scale diorama, which has been given the name “Cubana”, is a testimony to a lot of tinkering and creativity.

Rail transport modeling in Germany is closely associated with those steam locomotives and diesel locos of the former state railroad (German Federal Railway) from the 1960's. Therefore, there are many model railroading enthusiasts who recreate that romantic era. The rail diorama we see in this video follows this railway modelling philosophy and depicts a small station in Germany where a lot of freight traffic is handled.
