This magnificent HO scale train layout was built by the members of the Club Ferroviaire de Franche-Comté (CFFC) and depicts the train station of La Praz (“Gare de la Praz”) located at the “Culoz-Modane Railway”, sometimes called “Ligne de la Maurienne”. In 1925 the railway was electrified with 1.5 kV DC, using a third rail. In 1976 the third rail was replaced by an overhead wire. This is why we see electric locomotives that run without pantographs. Furthermore, train traffic concerns exclusively the period from 1956 to 1973.
This is № 569 of Pilentum's model railroad videos. In this video, we discover a truly brilliant model railroad layout built by Thomas Gallé. The miniature world, which was presented at the model train show called “On traXS 2024” depicts a section of the most important railway connections in Europe, namely the “Maurienne Valley”, one of the great transverse valleys of the Alps.

France is not only one of the most visited travel destinations, but also one of the most beautiful themes for model railroading. French landscapes and French lifestyle inspired Jan van Remmerden to build a very realistic looking model railroad layout in O scale.

This is the special feature of model railroader Wieger Pasman, who demonstrates that less can be more with his understated atmospheric model train city edge diorama. He was inspired by the desolate atmosphere of the Parisian district of La Plaine Saint Denis and built a diorama in HO scale with an industrial yard crossed on one side by a main line railway.

Mini World Lyon was opened in 2016. The model railway layout has been built in 1/87 scale and is divided into three sections: City Life (“Ville”), Country Life (“Campagne”) and Mountain World (“Montagne”). These three magnificent model railroad layouts consist of over 1,000 buildings, 40,000 model trees, 6,000 vehicles, of which about 200 automatically drive around on the model roads and streets, 150 model trains, and two kilometers of HO scale track. More than 30,000 LED and over 200 kilometers of electric cables provide a dreamlike day and night illumination. Just as Miniatur Wunderland in Germany is the biggest tourist attraction in the city of Hamburg, Mini World Lyon is growing to become one of the biggest tourist attractions in France.
