The model railroad layout called “Dolmny” depicts a fictitious railroad station located on a single-track railroad line of the Belgian State Railways in the Ardennes. The railway station of Dolmny is not very large, but has an additional shunting yard due to the nearby limestone quarry with its lime factory.
Because the railroad line is close to the border with France, numerous passenger trains and freight trains run through the station. The miniature world built in HO scale (1/87) presents the long-gone railroad era when freight traffic was still handled by steam locomotives and diesel locomotives.
The model railway layout was built the model railroading club called “Belux”. It is a small group of model builders and model railway enthusiasts. The club, founded in 1999, wants to represent the rail transport and the rail traffic of the Belgian and Luxembourg railway companies by constructing modular model train layouts.
