Steam Trains and Steam Locomotives on Arnold’s 1/32 Scale Model Railroad Layout

Arnold’s beautiful 1/32 scale model railroad layout has often been the subject of Pilentum’s model train videos. Arnold is a fanatic model railway enthusiast living in The Hague, Netherlands. He loves running and watching his gauge 1 steam locomotives and diesel locomotives over the almost 12.5 meter x 5.5 meter model rail layout. Furthermore, he enjoys playing with the many digital functions of the locomotives, such as smoke generators and sound decoders.
When Pilentum visited Arnold in March 2023, he asked for the best camera for model railroading and/or railway modelling. He was looking for a camera that has very small dimensions, is very easy to operate, but still produces a high-resolution video image. In addition, the camera should be so small that it can be positioned anywhere on the miniature world. The camera should also be suitable for creating shake-free videos when mounted on a railroad car.
Markus Lenz, also known as Pilentum, replied that he should buy the “DJI Osmo Pocket Camera” because it is currently the best camera for model railroaders and/or railway modellers. No matter whether it is N scale (1/160), HO scale (1/87) or even gauge 1 (1/32 scale), the “DJI Osmo Pocket Camera” is excellent for video recordings of model trains and scale models.
Arnold finally bought the “DJI Osmo Pocket Camera” and spontaneously shot some video footage that he would like to present to Pilentum’s audience. He bought the second generation of the camera (“Osmo Pocket Type II”), which is now much cheaper because the third generation of the camera (“Osmo Pocket Type III”) is now on the market. Although he didn’t shoot his videos in 4K video resolution, but only in a video resulotion of 1920 x 1080 pixels, the result is amazing: A clean and clear video quality and excellent sound.
