While Pilentum visited a model railway exhibit for American model trains in Germany he saw this special model railroad diorama of the Chilean railway. The model railroad was built by Juergen Petrik in HO gauge, 1/87 scale, narrow gauge. It is a model of the famous “Ferrocarril Andino”, the narrow-gauge railway somewhere in the Atacama Desert in Chile.
On the right section, there is the Pacific coast where penguins and sea lions swimming in the cold water. In the background of this scenery, the locomotives and trains drive on the railway line. On the left section, there is the high plateau of salt lakes and volcanoes with a little station. The landscape on this model railway layout is really impressive, for example the rocks, the very small stones and the plants along the tracks.
