When I visited the famous model railway exhibition, called “On TraXS”, I saw the beautiful model train diorama, called “Witlov”, built by model railroaders Marc van Nieuwenhove and Eric Van Hemelrijck (Spoor-O-Team). It is a model railroad layout specially constructed for exhibitions.
The model railway layout consists of two miniature worlds: On one side, there is a faithful reproduction of the “Brouwerij van Campenhout” (Brewery Kampenhout) in its current state. On the other side, the city district of Kampenhout-Sas is depicted with its dams and locks at the “Kanaal Leuven-Dijle” (Leuven-Dijle canal, artificial waterway) in the 1950s.
To connect both sides, a single-track oval railroad line has been laid between the two dioramas. The double diorama measures 3.25 x 1.70 meters. An old streetcar, typical of the Belgian railroad history, and a freight train supplying the brewery are used.
