The period of East German railway traffic offers a rich repertoire for model railroading. This is why Jens Petermann started building the station of Jahnsbach with his team called “Bimmlbahner” in 2013. The rolling stock has been weathered and modified exactly according to old photos.

Franz Rittig is a well-known railway modeller who depicts the railway infrastructure of the North German region Mecklenburg in his model railways. His latest model railway in 1/87 scale consists of two dioramas on an area of 2.7 m x 0.4 m x 0.5 m depicting the train station of Friedrichsruhe and Alt Warnow.

The shape of the model railroad layout is remarkable: It is actually a kind of a model railway shelf layout consisting of four sections that additionally includes a highly detailed city edge layout.

In Budapest, the capital of Hungary, there is a small model railway shop that has built a pretty nice model rail layout in HO scale for the presentation of new model trains and scale models. Marcin Turko and the Polish model railroading group “Polska Makieta Modułowa H0” have built an extremely realistic reproduction of the railway traffic of the Polish State Railways (PKP). The HO scale layout represents the time of the 1960’s and 1970’s, when steam locomotives and rail buses of the “Polskie Koleje Państwowe” (Polish State Railways) were still in use.
