Marc de Bruin’s model railway layout is a small standardized railway module for participating in module meetings. However, the module can also be set up as a separate model train diorama. The name of the model railroad layout actually reveals the theme: “Charleroi - Route de Mons.” The combination of large metro stations where a village tram arrives twice an hour, surrounded by large industrial buildings and steel structures from the largely closed steel industry in Belgium is to be presented in this model train diorama.
The Route de Mons, a large street in the city of Charleroi, Belgium, with its train station “Providence” is part of the “Charleroi Light Rail System” (“Métro Léger de Charleroi”). The model railway layout measures 120 cm x 56 cm. It features a large steel factory and a tram line. On the left, the tramway disappears into the entrance to a station, while on the right it is hidden behind the buildings. In addition, there is a double-track main line with a tram viaduct that winds its way between the steel industry buildings. At the front right, between the railway line and the road, there is another row of houses to conceal the passage of the tracks.
