Masterpiece in Rail Transport Modeling: A Multi Level Model Railroad Layout in HO scale

In this video, we discover a work of art in rail transport modeling, namely a beautiful model railroad layout, that was built by a professional company for a customer in Germany. The customer had the same problem that affects many model railroaders: He only had an area of 2.8 x 1.3 meters available in his house to install a model railway layout. The customer had many wishes and requirements for the miniature world in HO scale, but unfortunately he had very little available space. A well-known problem in model railroading: Not every railway modeller has enough space in his house or apartment for setting up a model train layout.

The requirements consisted of the following wishes: The model train layout should not be a shunting layout. It should be a miniature world where a maximum of railroad operations is possible. Furthermore, the model railway layout should have tracks as long as possible for presenting long model trains. Finally, the model railroad layout should be designed true to the German railway era III so that all types of traction, for example, steam trains, diesel trains and electric trains, can run.

The professional company (Model Railroad Workshop “Stellwerk-Ost”) developed a track plan that extended not just to one level, but to several levels below the landscape. The available space below the landscape was fully utilized to install several staging yards where more than ten model trains are parking. All three levels are logically linked by track spirals and helices so that model trains can easily switch between the main line and the branch line.

To give you a better idea of this multi level miniature world, a 3D model and two track plans are displayed in the video. The result is an extremely individual model train layout that enables a lot of rail traffic and railway operations. In total, the construction of this model railroad layout took around 600 working hours to build. However, it only took nine months from the first customer meeting to delivery.
