The model railroad layout, called “Karakura”, was constructed by Huib Maaskant, who lives in the Netherlands. During his trip through Japan, Huib Maaskant gathered so much inspiration that he began constructing a Japanese model railway layout in N scale. The model train layout depicts a fictional Japanese village in a mountainous landscape with typical Japanese houses and a train station.
The train diorama was built in Japanese 1/150 gauge, is approximately 1.50 meters wide and 0.8 meters deep. The background wallpaper perfectly matches the detailed landscape. The miniature world features local trains from the “Japan Railways Group” (JR), which are digitally controlled.
The video was filmed at the magnificent model railway exhibition, called “Grote Modelspoor Expo” in Leuven, Belgium, in September 2025.
