This magical model railway layout depicts a wonderful landscape in the 1940s. The miniature world is set in the Netherlands, where a steam tram runs along the riverbank and a barge is travelling along the river. Near the small village, the typical Dutch bridge must be opened so that the model ship can pass through.
The model railroad layout was constructed by Vincent de Bode. It is called “De Graafstroom” and was built in 1/87 scale. The model trains correspond to a special narrow gauge, namely “Cape Gauge”, with a track width of 12.26 millimetres. The diorama looks like a work of art and a masterpiece of model railroading. Furthermore this model rail layout is a good example of what are known as fine scale model railways.
