Eric Mines has constructed an idyllic as well as superb model railway layout of Cranmore Railway Station in Somerset, England. At the Warley Model Railway Exhibition 2019 he presented his layout that was built in O Gauge (7 mm/ft. scale). Eric’s O scale layout is 18 feet long and 2 feet wide including fiddle yards on both sides. The track is hand built as are the buildings.
The station was opened in 1858 to serve the village of Cranmore. Back then, Cranmore was part of the “Cheddar Valley Line” run by the “Great Western Railway” (GWR). Today, Cranmore is the main railway station of the preserved “East Somerset Railway”, a 2.5 mile heritage railway operating the line between Cranmore, Cranmore West, Merryfield Lane Halt and Mendip Vale.
