Josef Brandl is one of Germany’s best-known model railway layout designer, who is probably also known in Europe and overseas. He has built hundreds of model railroad layouts including miniature worlds that children and adults dream of. His model train layouts are characterised by precise track layout with majestic bridges and by breathtaking landscape design.
One of his model railway layouts is dedicated to the Franconian railway. Franconia is a region of Bavaria in Germany. Franconia’s largest city is Nuremberg. Other important Franconian cities are Wuerzburg or Coburg. However, the Franconian region is known for its magnificent nature.
The great landscapes of Bavaria and its railway lines were the inspiration for Josef Brandl to create the model railway we see in this video. The model railroad layout is almost 20 years old and is now located in a large exhibition hall for model trains. At the time of the video recording, the model rail layout was undergoing major renovation and refurbishment. Nevertheless, the beauty and uniqueness of this miniature world is still recognisable despite the construction work.

As a gardener, he has an eye for the essentials so that a model railways look realistic.
