There are different labels for this model railroad layout, for example z scale micro layout, z scale train diorama, z gauge diorama, shunting layout or shelf layout. However, the German model railroader Jürgen Tuschick took on the challenge of constructing an industrial model train diorama in a very small space. His 1/220 scale model railway layout, which he called “Flagstone East Terminal”, was built on an area about one meter wide and half a meter deep.
The train diorama depicts a US freight yard as well as warehouses, companies and businesses located in the nearby area. The atmosphere is characterized by a typically industrial, dirty environment. Furthermore, there is a special lighting installed in the wooden frame containing the miniature world, so the unique light reflects the gloomy atmosphere.
As we can see in the video, Jürgen Tuschick has succeeded perfectly in creating this gloomy atmosphere: Many details, perfect weathering, graffiti on the trains, rust on locomotives, dirt on the buildings and garbage on the streets characterize this model train layout in Z scale.
