■ Very Large Modular Model Railroad Layout in HO Scale with Nudist Beach

In 2014, Pilentum visited a model train exhibit in Germany. There was a very large modular model railroad layout built in HO scale. There are a little nudist beach, a trolleybus museum, a great central station and a small city edge model train layout with a scale model of the famous Wuppertal Monorail. And, there are model cars and vehicles from the Faller Car System, too. This modular model train layout was built by a railway club in Germany. In 1989, some model railroaders joined together for founding this model railroad club. Today, almost 25 years later, there are 50 members, and they develop modules for model railroading. The club has got one of the largest portable model railroad systems in Germany. They always built at 1/87 scale. Model trains are running either in two or in three wire operation with analog or digital control. Inside club room, there are nearly 168 individual modules. Regularly, the model railroaders present their model train layouts at model train exhibitions. So in 2014, when Pilentum could visit a variety of these model train modules.

■ Large Model Railroad Layout with Cab Ride and more than 200 Model Trains in action

This very large model railroad exhibit in HO scale presents the German history of railways from the beginning of the 20th century to modern times. Four various model train layouts on more than 1,000 square meters present the several periods of time. There are more than 200 model trains in action. In the beginning of railroad history, there were steam locomotives. Later, these steam locos were replaced by diesel locomotives. Today, electric locomotives and high-speed trains, for example the famous ICE in Germany or TGV in France or Frecciarossa in Italy, are in use. At this model railway show, each period is represented with its inherent locomotives and trains. Although these four model railroad layouts are very big, the trains are not digitally controlled. There is no DCC in use. There is an analog control technology in use, namely the model train control system made by the Gebhardt company from Germany. Furthermore, it must be mentioned, that all the locomotives and trains are running in a very smoothly way. They were converted and optimized with special model train motors made by the Faulhaber company from Germany. In addition, the trains have the correct length in relation to the 1/87 scale.

■ Marklin model train layout in analogue mode and HO scale

This Marklin model railway layout was built by a man who is now over 80 years old. When he was a young boy his father had given him the first train set of Marklin. This was in 1937, namely the steam locomotive RM 800 with three passenger cars. From that moment on, he began with his model train collection. But many years later, the old man realized the dream of his own model railroad layout. For this, he started building his model train layout in HO scale. The model railway layout is built on five levels, it has an area of ‚Äč‚Äčabout 50 square meters and it is supplied via 38 transformers with driving power. Since 1991, this model railroad layout is open to visitors. The model railway exhibition is certainly not comparable with large commercial exhibitions because houses, tracks and trains are rarities today.

■ Amazing Model Railroad Layout in HO Scale with Cab Ride

This amazing model railroad layout in HO scale is not an exhibition. It is a private model train layout. It is a perfect model railway layout because all areas of the layout are optimally illuminated, along the entire railway track a catenary is mounted, and electric locomotives are driving with pantographs. On the railway lines, inside the stations, locomotive depots and in helices model trains made by Marklin, Fleischmann, Trix, Arnold, Pico and Roco are in use. The original or standard motors of the locomotives were removed and replaced with efficient engines and gearboxes from the Faulhaber company, Germany. Therefore, locomotives are starting quietly and breaking in an absolutely smooth way. On the model display, there are locomotives, passenger cars and freight train used by the German Federal Railroad. The video footage was partially created by using Pilentum's model train camera car. So, you can watch some beautiful cab rides.

■ The new model train show by Marklin in Germany on more than 400 square meter

This model railway layout was opened in 2014, and it is one of the largest layouts made by Marklin in Germany. The model train layout presents a journey from Germany’s Ruhr Valley with its steel and coal industry to Italy. At the beginning of the exhibition, the Ruhr Valley is presented before the days of heavy industry. Then, there is one of the first displays showing the coal loading in a port in the 1960s. At that time, the coal was first stored and later loaded onto ships. Behind that scenery, a replica of a typical mine in the Ruhr Valley is presented. This scale model of the mine includes any technical details. Next to the coal and steel industry, the so-called Rhine Route is presented. This is a part of the freight and passenger traffic railway line, which leads from the Ruhr Valley to other regions. For example, there are many trains running along this railway line. Furthermore, there is a fairground or fun park. At the fairground, more than 20,000 LED were installed. Right next to the fairground, there are a town, two model cyclists and an amazing castle. There is also a great central station where various passenger trains and freight trains meet each other. Far behind the central station, a large car factory is located. Cars and vehicles are shipped by freight trains to the Alps. After discovering this German section of the great model railroad layout, the Alps are the next special attraction inside this model train show. There are mountains, bridges and a lot of railway lines. Finally, the trains - after climbing the Alps - reach their destination in Italy. Inside the Italian section of this great exhibit, the region around Venice and its typical landscapes, train, cars and locomotives are presented.
